Bride's Maid - the Planning Guru
What will you feel when someone asked you, "Will you be my bride's maid?".
Of course, there is this feeling of being touched when asked to be one, either from your sister, bestfriend, or cousin. And everything seems to start like a journey. Even the thrills of parties along the way feels almost like its very incessant.
But soon as the proposal goes, means giving enough time, money, and patience. It comes also with the realization of being the competent bride's maid. Being a bride's maid is wonderful opportunity and experience, but it is also expected to drive women crazy.
Before the Wedding Day
"You want me to wear that?"
Ahh, the dreaded bridesmaid dress. It's the single most important, and costly, aspect of being a bridesmaid. First of all, a bridesmaid is required to pay for her dress and shoes. This can sometimes amount to quite a financial contribution. So if you find yourself in a money bind, the best thing to do is to discuss your concerns with the bride. She may be able to help pay for the alterations, or in some cases, the whole dress itself.
What if you hate it?
Most maids can attest to a closet full of bridesmaid dresses that never saw the light of day again since the wedding. Luckily, most designers today are moving away from those hideous creations of yesteryear. But if you truly believe the dress simply isn't you, and there is a consensus among all the bridesmaids, you can choose to approach the bride with your suggestions and opinions. If it's still a no-go, bite your tongue, and remember the mantra, "It's her wedding, and whatever makes her happy." Related dress duties include making yourself available for fittings, picking up the dress, and shoe shopping. Big-day beauty applies to bridesmaids too, so expect to get your hair and makeup done professionally, depending on the bride's wishes. This could mean further expense and devoting more time to appointments.

On the day of the wedding...
Make sure to be at the bridal site on time (of course).
Be prepared to help the bride, maid of honor, parents, and others. Helping the bride dress is a very important part of the big day. Is there a run in someone's stocking?
Be ready to dash out to the corner drug store to pick up a spare. The important thing is to keep cool. Most likely the bride will be a jumble of nerves and she'll need all of you to be her rock.
At the reception, remember to enjoy yourself -- you've earned it!
But the work's not quite over yet -- mingle with guests, transport gifts for the couple, even save a slice of the cake the bride didn't have time to sample. Again, be open and willing to help out. And then it's time to catch the bouquet!

Quiz: Are You REALLY Ready to Get Married?

by Sarah Carillo
I just love this quiz, i took the time to read it and it was fun! Try it.
It seems that whenever married people are asked how they knew they were ready to wed they always say they “just knew.” Calling that answer “vague” would be the understatement of the year. So whether you’re still feeling things out with your boyfriend or you’re taking this quiz at the Internet café across the street from your wedding chapel, read on to find out if you are really ready to take the plunge and walk down the aisle.
1. How long have you and your boyfriend/fiancé been together?
a. Less than six months
b. Six months to a year
c. More than a year
2. You think the perfect family is two or three kids. He thinks:
a. Um, I don’t know, I’ve never asked.
b. That no kids (or perhaps eight) would be ideal.
c. That two sounds pretty wonderful as well.
3. How’s your sex life?
a. Pretty much non-existent, but it’s not like sex is that important.
b. It’s in a bit of a slump, but it’ll pick up after we get married, right?
c. It’s great, couldn’t be hotter.
4. How well do you get along with his family?
a. I haven’t actually met them yet.
b. His mom and/or dad hate me, but they’ll come around.
c. They all love me; we’re just one big happy family.
5. When you think of the words “wedding” and “marriage,” you picture:
a. A stressful planning process and then a lifetime with the same person.
b. Your dress, the colors of your reception tables, the flowers, the cake …
c. A party celebrating your love followed by a lifetime with your soulmate.
6. How honest are you about your finances?
a. I keep my credit card balances and frequent shopping sprees a secret.
b. He knows I have student loans and a weakness for shoes, but we haven’t discussed specifics.
c. We share all our financial details; we want to know what we’re getting in to.
7. What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?
a. My dress and shoes
b. The reception
c. Saying those vows in front of my family and friends
8. When borrowing his laptop to check your e-mail, you notice his e-mail account is open. Do you check it out?
a. Of course. I read all the e-mails I can before he comes back in the room.
b. I’d be tempted and might take a quick peek at the inbox, but I wouldn’t open any.
c. No way, I trust him completely.
9. Think back to your last fight. What happened?
a. We yelled, called each other names, then didn’t speak for two days.
b. We yelled, called each other names, then calmed down and worked it out.
c. We yelled, then talked about what was wrong and reached a compromise.
10. How often do you see your friends?
a. All the time. I’m out with them practically every night.
b. Rarely. My boyfriend and I don’t have time for friends.
c. Occasionally. I try to split my time between my friends and my boyfriend.
11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
a. Who can think that far ahead? I barely know where I’ll be in 10 days.
b. Ideally, living in France with my husband by my side, of course.
c. With my husband, our kids and our stable jobs in the city.
12. How important is saving money to you two?
a. Why save when you can spend?
b. I’ve got some money tucked away, not sure about him though …
c. We’re both saving for our future home, vacations, etc.
13. Your friend invites you for a girls’ night of shopping and dinner, but your boyfriend just came home after a horrible day at work. What do you do?
a. Go out. He’ll still be miserable when I get home, so I can comfort him then.
b. Tell her I’ll skip shopping and stay with him for awhile, then meet up for dinner.
c. Call my friend and reschedule. He needs me now.
14. What’s the most important quality in a mate for you?
a. He has to be hot.
b. A sense of humor or intelligence
c. I need to be able to trust him completely and feel that he supports me.
15. You’re on vacation with your boyfriend and it’s been raining non-stop. What’s your reaction?
a. Blame him for picking the location. If only we had gone to my choice.
b. Make the best out of it by catching up on my reading and TV shows.
c. Spend the time indoors with him. Who needs sunshine?
16. What’s the best part about being engaged?
a. The sparkly new piece of jewelry to show off!
b. Telling all my friends the romantic story of how he proposed.
c. Knowing that I’ll be spending the rest of my life with the person I love.
Your score: Give yourself one point for every “a,” two points for every “b” and three points for every “c.” See how ready you are below.
16-26 points: Run away from the chapel.
While you may love your boyfriend very much, you’re clearly not ready for marriage right now. Maybe it’s just too soon in your relationship and you haven’t yet had those discussions about the future and what you both want. Or maybe you’re just not ready to settle down. Whatever the reason, don’t make such a huge commitment until you’re really ready—no ring or fabulous party is worth a lifelong commitment you aren’t sure you want.
27-37 points: Trying on dresses for size.
You may not be ready to get married tomorrow, but you’re in a place where a lifelong commitment isn’t sounding so bad. You and your boyfriend have started having the important conversations, but before you slip on that ring you need to make sure you’re both on the same page with what you want. Remember, there’s no need to rush, but if your relationship keeps going the way it is you may be wedding planning soon enough.
38-48 points: Get yourself to a wedding planner—stat.
You seem ready and eager to walk down the aisle and it seems like your relationship is keeping up with you as well. You’ve discussed the big issues in life already and obviously love and trust each other a lot. In fact, you probably didn’t even need to take this quiz—you already “just knew.” Congratulations on reinforcing your hunch.
